Bass player and teacher Scott Devine has jumped aboard the uBass train. Seems Scott’s wife got him an acoustic uBass for Christmas and he’s totally sold.
He put up a video about his thoughts on our little friend.
Check out the video here.
At one point in the video he says he’s not sure what model uBass he has, but he thinks it’s some kind of Koa. However, it looks like the Mahogany acoustic model. Anyway, he says it’s a great little bass that sounds great and is a lot of fun to play. But then, we already knew that.
He does warn, however, that you need to adjust your technique a bit if you plan on doing a lot of sliding. Because of the small scale, if you slide into a note, you’ll probably be about a semitone out of tune unless you adjust your speed and accuracy. He also notes the ultra-short scale takes a little getting used to if you’re coming from a long-scale bass.
But, all-in-all, Scott has nothing but praise for the uBass.
Glad to have you on board Scott!
